The Vivus System has been developed by Vivus Solutions Ltd and is deployed throughout Wales by Vivus Social Solutions Cymru CLG under an exclusive licence.

The system is not a typical lime render and must not be thought of as such. There are key differences in production and application that need to be respected. The Vivus Solutions system is a unique air lime render that both dries out the building but also insulates it too.

The Vivus system is a series of layers of render each one working with the substrate below.

Vivus ThermaSec is the base coat of c. 50mm that provides the insulation layer. It does this with a specialist insulating aggregate that provides exceptional performance for its thickness.

Vivus DiffuSec is the top coat that keeps the walls dry. It does this by again using air lime mixed with an exclusive aggregate that draws out moisture via both diffusion and capillary action.

Vivus ColorSec is the protective coating of pure limewash (that can be tinted) that again works in pure harmony with the DiffuSec to provide a long lasting finish to the system. The fact that the whole system ahs been designed in parallel allows for the limewash to last c. 10-15 years before it requires re-lime-washing.

The system needs to work WITH the solid wall so that it can regulate and control moisture. This means that the system should be applied to the original bricks / stone of the walls not any subsequent render. Most of any existing render therefore needs to be removed before the system can be applied.

It is important that maintenance of the system is done correctly. Therefore, on all Vivus Solutions work a small plaque is installed with a QR code so that future generations can access the required maintenance instructions to preserve the integrity of the system for the many generations to come.
